Telling Tales: An Exhibition

Folk tales, in the past, were spread throughout villages to villages and later culture to culture in different languages and in different forms of art and media. The title of the story and the characters’ names may have changed, but elements such as motifs, tropes, allusions and moral lessons still continues to influence popular culture internationally.
In the same way, there are iconic folk tales that are interpreted in various forms of art and media, such as the Tortoise and the Hare, The Emperor's New Clothes, Cinderella, etc. Cinderella, for example, was first told in Grimm’s collection of folk tales, but now they are made into animation, book, broadway, movie and tv shows- often times as an original story, but the essential motif stays the same. I thought, is there a way I can bring out the same motifs, symbols, and themes and graphically incorporate them in my own work?
The exhibition itself will display a collection of works by different artists, each interpreting the story with their unique style. Thus, the series will contain different styles of art for each poster.
