Bits & Pieces
This infographics was developed as a systems model on "Setting up a sustainable apparel and lifestyle company" for NID. In this project we have set up a sustainable company called "Bits and Pieces" which not only sells sustainable products but also runs on a sustainable model that aims to be eco friendly and works on the principles of fair trade. The raw materials sourced comprise of sustainable and fast growing natural fibers; our own industrial wastes like scrap fabric, empty thread spools, used papers etc; sourced scrap and surplus fabric from various mills and markets; discarded garments  etc. The majority of our woven fabrics are sourced from Arvind and Ashima Mills (Ahmedabad,Gujarat). Knits(organic cotton, hemp and bamboo fabric) are mostly sourced from Tirupur (Tamil Nadu). Coir is sourced from Kerala, Orissa etc.North Eastern woven textiles and bamboo and cane are sourced from Tripura. Surface Embellishments (printing/embroideries etc) such as Phulkari from Punjab, Kantha, batik and macrame from Shantiniketan. We also encourage our customers to donate old, used garments in the kiosks set up in our stores; in return offering them a small product discount. Our packaging etc is also made of recycled material and we avoid the use of plastic as much as possible. The management and the employees believe in minimum wastage of valuable resources like electricity, paper, water and office supplies. Our company aims to target the youth of the country through a contemporary product range and also spread awareness about the dwindling resources of the environment and sustainability as a conscientious life choice through relevant information about the present environmental scenario printed on various tags and shopping bags.
