"Profondo Rosso" Blacklight Screenprint

My blacklight screenprint for Gallery 1988’s Thirty Three and a Third art show showcasing reinterpretations of album covers by various artists. Focusing on Dario Argento’s Profondo Rosso (released as Deep Red in the States), the imagery has been reimagined in psychedelic colors that pop to life under UV/LEDs. Printed in three colors by VGKIDS,  the prints measure 12”x12”  so that they can be framed in record frames or slipped inside existing LP jackets, and come in a regular run of 50.
The art started as drafts that were presented to Goblin's Claudio Simonetti for a proposed tour poster for his version of the band. When those talks fizzled out, the ideas laid dormant until the Thirty Three and a Third show resurrected the idea of using them again. Presented here are the original drafts -- some of which focused on the doll head, which has since become iconic in its own right -- and thus, dropped in the final art to make something more original.
