Studio Flux: Redesigning our Studio

Responding to rapid technological changes in the field of architecture and the collaborative nature of architectural firms, our studio culture (and how we work) is readjusting. Studio Flux seeks to introduce a more natural movement throughout the studio by introducing three new pieces of furniture which work together to create a more collaborative workflow. Studio Flux follows three concepts:

1.       Physically integrate the digital and handcraft, to break the mental barrier that handcraft is strictly explorative and that digital is for execution.

2.       The modularity and mobility of Studio Flux promotes exchange and interaction between students, creating a breeding ground for spontaneous, collaborative ideas.

3.       Studio Flux reinterprets the ‘micro organisms’ of the old studio into a ‘macro system’, and introduces a group workflow, adding to the individual one.
Ultimately, the prototype furniture pieces aim to change how we work and the kind of architects our studio culture produces.  It preserves the individuality of the old studio set-up, while fostering a more inclusive environment and bringing today’s technology to the studio.
