Emoticon
The Emoticon Project
September 2011
With advances in internet and cellular technology, communication has never been more accessible or simpler. The immediacy of email, texting, chatting and the like has essentially replaced letter writing and even phoning. Butwhat seems to have been lost in the progression is our ability to show genuineemotion. We’ve created a lexicon of shortcut graphics to offer how we may (orshould be) feeling. Have we possibly limited our ability to truly feel in theprocess? When was the last time you actually laughed out loud when typing lol?
Emoticon takes acritical look at and attempts to place the missing humanity back into the dailybarrage of keystrokes and button pushing now considered communication.
