Aquatic Type, interactive installation

Interactive installation.

Once we learned to read it’s difficult to perceive letters as anything else than representations for their corresponding sound. It’s also difficult to refrain from reading them together as words if they appear close to each other.

In order to explore this matter and try to look at letters as pure shapes, I built this installation out of a watertank, a waterpump, letters printed on plastic film, and an overhead projector. With a power switch, one could turn the water flow on or off. When turned on, the water would rearrange all the letters. When turned off, the letters would decelerate into a new composition.
