A resume for any profession has to be concise, organized, and well formatted. And home care nursing occupation is no exception. If you are searching for a job to provide care to a patient at his or her home, know how to write a home care nurse resume.

 

Before applying, the one thing you need in hand is experience. The home care nurse position is given only to experienced candidates since they may have to deal with emergency situations all alone and take quick and right decisions. Further, a license from the respective state nursing board is also mandatory.

 

 

Don't give any heading to this like you need to give for other information. Just type your name in bold followed by address, city, state, zip code, phone number, and email address. Make sure you have selected times new roman, helvetica or verdana fonts for easy reading.

 

 

It is up to you whether to state objective or professional profile. In both the style of writing, the main idea is to display your core strengths, skills, and experience, and how can you contribute to the success of the would-be employer.

 

A simple, yet effective statement would be like this: “A professional and experienced home care nurse with specialization in geriatric care wants to provide compassionate nursing care to people within the comfort of their home.”

List employment detail in reverse chronological order as this format is currently prevailing in the job market. By doing so, the hiring person can easily see where you are working. Include your job title, employer's name, city, and state (without zip code), and employment dates. Leaving one space below the employment date, list the duties performed. Do not use paragraph to describe what you have done. Instead, use bullet points and limit them to six or eight maximum. Your work experience details will look like this:

Noble Homecare Center, Chicago, Illinois

January 2014 – Present

 

1. Identify patient's health care needs and plan nursing care accordingly

2. Read medical history of the patient to know him better

3. Analyze outcome of the treatment and suggest modification

5. Educate patients on usage of drugs and minimizing dependency

6. Coordinate nursing service in consultation with medical staff

 

 

 

List your nursing degree, college attended, and graduation year. As nurses are expected to continue with education, you can include that too. List certifications and name of the issuing body, and date. You can also add license number and its validity.

 

 

In you are member of any reputed organization related to your profession, list it under this heading.

 

 

You can provide reference to the employer at the later stage since it is asked only if after getting selected for the job. So, just state 'On request.'

 

Except personal details, do provide proper headings to the each section of the resume like mentioned above. Be sure to provide genuine information only.
