This is my personal revisit of the poster and catalogue for the Marina Abramovic performance “The Artist is Present”, which was held at the MOMA of New York in 2010.

The design is inspired by Abramovic art practice: conceptual and minimalist. I didn’t want any symbolic image, I rather preferred to focus on the pure typography.

The letter X identifies the viewer which during the performance was sitting in front of the Artist, represented by the full stop. The person subjected to the performance wasn’t aware of which kind of experience he was going through, that’s why the two elements are divided/connected by the question mark.
