The Lincoln Football Trophy

I designed this trophy and teamed up with a local woodworker to creat the final product. This is one of the best projects I have worked on, truly an honor.

Carved from two "witness trees" that were on the battlefield at the time of the Battle of Gettysburg. There are a handful of such trees that remain. Two trees named the "Longstreet Tree" and the "Christ Lutheran Church and Chaplain Howell Tree" by woodworker Bill Hewitt were put into the tree. It is said that President Lincoln himself passed one of these trees the day he gave his historical "Gettysburg Address."

Witness trees have some discoloration due to the lead striations of bullets and shells that are lodged within them.
