Part 1: The Arcade Box
Many people dispute the artistic merit of video games, but don't give much thought about their potential use as an art medium. As one can see, I have used Minecraft to make and show artworks that would have been impossible to realize on an undergraduate budget. All videos of those structures are captured with Camtasia 2 and edited for DVD replay inside a salvaged arcade box.
Part 2: The 3D Printed Sculptures
These sculptures below are structures built in a Minecraft server called Printcraft. As the name suggests, one can use it to convert objects made there into STL files and print them with a 3D printer. The process and technology used to make these sculptures has infinite possibilities, and can even be a valuable artist's tool.
Part 3: The Live Animal Installation
Over a year ago, my dad found a small, abandoned Black Angus calf just outside of our property. My family and I worked to rehabilitate her, and we ended up keeping her in our farm in order to raise a herd of cattle. For this exhibition, we applied clown face paint and baby powder to emulate the pixel spots of a Minecraft cow.
Fun Fact: Almost everyone who visited this part of my exhibition thought Rosebud was a small goat.
Part 4: The Compilation Video
As the name suggests, the video is a combination of nearly all my art school videos. Some of them were left out due to disc space and time issues. A full list of titles can be found in the description of the embedded video here.
