Whereas the typical FNR special has a more frenetic, quick-cut title graphic in which only the subtitle changes from show to show, this animation was created as a more muted, more serious take on the show's look.
The regular camera lens/aperture/shutter details were replaced with film/reels/archives elements and the pops & flashes became flames. Though the palette is essentially the same, color proportions were allowed to change.The subject matter was not taken into account insomuch as elements weren't added that relate to it. Just like the regular, fast paced FNR package, this look was built generically so it might be templated for any other long form documentary work in the future.
