Self-Projection
This series was created as an exploration of the role film plays as a definition of self. Media plays an essential role in how we interact as human beings. It not only dictates how we communicate, but it defines how we create an identity and a space for ourselves in our society. Our definition of self is often in relation to genres, characters, and mood expressed in film we wish to exemplify. We understand our world through the media we are exposed to.

For this series, I made a list of the qualities I believe could define me and qualities I would like to take on. I then thought of images from media (movies, television, short films) that represented these things for me. From this list I created the following paintings to reclaim them as my own.
