About the project

Folktale is part of folklore. One of its functions is to educate. Folklore in form of folktale should have an important role in education, but in fact it only occupies small percentage. Its appearance in various medias in form of retelling stories, resulted in folktale to end at the limit of preservation stage. Therefore, redesigning folktale through the board game was done as the initial solution to lift famous folktale to another stage, which is to place it in community by maximizing its possible functions and potentials. The process of redesigning consists of cultural values excavation, plot analysis, and philosophy analysis. The result of redesigning Timun Mas folktale is presented in form of board game as a means to grow leadership and the spirit of team working among adolescents.
