Trade Program Management Usability Testing

Trade Programs are incentive campaigns that Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) manufacturers offer to retailers to help promote new products. There is a heavy reliance on paper contracts, as well as other manual efforts to enroll retailers in incentive programs.

Management Science Associates (MSA) had a system in place that calculated manufacturer earnings for Trade Programs and issued rebate checks to participating retailers. Our goal was to improve the enrollment process for the sales rep by minimizing the amount of manual effort required.

My role in this project was to build a prototype of the proposed wireframes so that we could test the designs in the field on an iPad Mini. Utilizing parallel development, I built sections of the prototype, tested them with users and provided metrics and design recommendations for further design iterations. I performed a SUS survey at the end of each section which allowed us to understand how users felt about the new app design. Additionally, we captured statistics around task success. Through usability testing we increased our success rate from 52% to an average of 82%.
