A+E Network History Channel. Ad for World War I Centennial. In conjuction with the United States World War One Centennial Commission. The most time consuming part of this ad was finding the right photo. I tried many different actual WWI images and had one that I even colored that was really nice, but when dealing with History you are dealing with authenticity. The image that I colored was of Australian troops and we needed to show American troops. This photos original was low res and had many cracks, stains and dust. Choosing the right font and type treatment took time as well. The typface needed to be on brand, but still needed to be unique and appropriate for the content. I picked up the blue from the Centennial Commission logo to keep the color palette limited and refined.
