FamilySearch Partner Accounts

FamilySearch partnered up with three of the best family history companies in the world. These partnerships allowed members of the LDS church to qualify for free accounts to these various partners.

Initial OpenID Flows
Initial user flows to help show how to utilize OpenID to facilitate creating an account with a FamilySearch partner.
Conceptual Designs
A set of early conceptual designs showing hypothetical ways we could introduce a user in context that they qualify for a free account to a FamilySearch partner.
When a user who qualified for a free account signed into FamilySearch and we knew that they could benefit from a free partner account we could notify them through this type of a notification.
The partner could allow users on their website to sign in with their FamilySearch account. This would allow us to connect the two accounts through OpenId, where we could then easily exchange information.
Show possible results from one of the partner websites that could help the user find more information about their ancestors. This would allow people in context of their experience to be able to create a free account with the various partners.
Provide hints in our Family Tree, that would notify the user of possible records and other information that the partner knows about their ancestors. Then provide an easy way to create a free account with the partner to be able to access the records and other information.
As we met with each partner and worked more closely with them we were able to become more detailed in how we wanted the user experience to be. I then created a more detailed user flow to help communicate the intended experience to all of the stake holders on this project.
Created a more hi fidelity user flow to help communicate the entire process of creating a free account with each of the partners to the CEO of FamilySearch and the rest of the stake holders for this project.
This is the initial wireframe of what ne of the partner landing pages could be. We used this to help us pitch the idea to each of the partners and to help them provide us the necessary content for the landing pages.
The Landing Pages
The Experience
Email campaign
Sign in, so we know if the person qualifies for the offer.
Landing page for the partner. This page offers a quick, clear, and easy path to immediately create the free account, while also offering more indepth information about the partner to help people learn why they would want an account with the partner. At the bottom of the page is another clear and easy call to action to allow the person to make a decision, while also offering a path to learn even more about the offer and the partnership.
In order to simplify the experience we need the persons permission to allow us to give the partner access to some of the persons information. This is the standard procedure in OpenID.
We allow the user to get more indepth information about what specifically they are allowing the partner to access.
Initially we released this in a limitted rollout. During that rollout period we utilized this soft denial page to notify the person that the offer wasn't available for them at this time.
