Cosmos Introduction: Re-Created
This is a re-creation of the introduction to Carl Sagan's Cosmos, originally broadcast in 1980. I wanted to update the old Cosmos introduction with modern computer generated visuals and 3D typography incorporated into each scene.

I initially isolated and lifted the centre sound of the clip using audacity. The reason for this is that with stereo recordings like Cosmos' the voice over is played down the centre and the background music and sounds occupy the space to the left and right. By isolating the centre track I am left with only a mono sound recording, however the music accompanying the piece by 'This Will Destroy You' adds this depth by being a stereo recording. Track EQ was also used again to remove unwanted noise and create the cleanest possible voice over track.
Each scene consists of multiple layers. There are various text layers, the galaxies, planets and stars themselves and background layers made up of 2D images taken from the NASA website.

By incorporating multiple layers into each composition a sense of depth is created, the project aims to capture the grandness and beauty of the cosmos.
