Katya Solodina's profile

Viva la Artgentina

I’ve made this series in Russia, while I was preparing my relocation to Argentina. This series is made completely out of materials I found in Buenos Aires: posters found on the streets, flowers and levees, photos from flea markets, old magazines.
Sometimes the artist tries on a geographer's costume, putting on an anthropologist's cap, philosopher's glasses and surgeon's gloves, but at the same time remains a perfect child in the endless sandbox of his fantasies.

Each of the sixty works of this series is the Real Argentina, copied from an imaginary globe. Every peace becomes a fictional map of a real county. The contours of this country change because nothing is constant in any of the worlds, but the content remains absolutely authentic in smell, color, taste and spirit. The synesthetic transfer of this cocktail of sensations from Argentina - is what the artist does to us with the help of this series.
If it seems to you that the works argue with each other or are in complex relationships with each other, or, for example, you think that they are not what they seem and are hiding something, you are on the right track.
All that remains is to come (fly, sail, crawl) to Buenos Aires and see everything with your own eyes.
Or trust the artistic vision of Katya Solodina, who created
this "Ode to Love to Argentina"
this “Argentina in 60 seconds, or lives not yet lived”,
this "Poem about unnoticed heroes so bright that they became art"
     this "Music of gushing tinsel"
this series of collages made from materials found in Argentina and the artist's love.
