Logo design was my first major project in Graphic Design I. Douglass, a small town in Kansas, commissioned the class to develop a set of options for a city logo that they would choose from at a “certain” date. To gather ideas, I went on a road trip with the class to the city’s local museum. There, along with information given by the tour guide, I found inspiration for my design; coming together after drawing 80 sketches. The logo uses a typeface based on the old retro-style font used in grocery cans in the museum. The red-brown structure represents Hangman’s Bridge, a sight important to the town’s history. The wavy motion throughout the design conveys the idea of rolling hills.
