Consorzio di Tutela Montecucco

Consorzio di Tutela dei Vini Montecucco
The Consorzio di Tutela dei Vini Montecucco is an organization responsible for protecting and promoting the wines produced in the Montecucco area, located in the Tuscany region of Italy. The Montecucco area is particularly known for its red wines, notably the Montecucco Sangiovese, which is one of the primary grape varieties cultivated in the region. The quality of these wines can be attributed to various factors, including the climate influenced by the presence of Monte Amiata and the nearby sea.

Brief: Logo restyling
At IED in Florence, students of the Master in Graphic Design - Focus on New Media had the privilege of undertaking the restyling of the logo for Consorzio di Tutela Montecucco in Tuscany.

The monte Amiata Legend

Many wineries in Italy use hills and grapes in their logos. To differentiate Montecucco and position it as a premium wine, I was inspired by the Chianti Classico logo, which is instantly recognizable worldwide. The Chianti Classico logo, features the Gallo Nero (Black Rooster), and it embodies the history and tradition of Italy's esteemed wine region.

The Tuscan region has a rich history in wine-making, dating back to the Etruscans and continuing through the Middle Ages. There’s a legend about Monte Amiata where a tragic love story ends with a gift of wine as a symbol of everlasting love. This legend represents both the history and the passion behind wine production in the Tuscan hills and inspired me to use it as the symbol for Montecucco.
