Reflection/ Tips by Mads Nissen

Mads Nissen is a Danish documentary photographer, born on November 17, 1979, and winner of several international awards in photojournalism. After I watched the video, Mads Nissen said, thing to me in documentary photography the beauty of it or charm or the power of it is empathy. Because capturing sincere feelings and feeling those feelings is the biggest challenge and the interesting part in this field, the photographer must feel the feelings of honesty, anger, sadness, and joy so that he can convey his idea to the audience with all sincerity and spontaneity, and this is what is required. Some of his advice to new documentary photographers is to focus on the story, what the photographer wants to say by taking that photo, and what message he wants to convey to the audience.
What he drew my attention to the fact that he focused on natural lighting more than other lighting, relying on the natural colors that appear in the pictures without modifying them at times. I learned from his advice that a good photographer or someone who wants to be a professional should not focus on the equipment, but rather on how to take photographs, when, where, how, focusing on lighting, movement such as body movement, eyes, limbs, etc. Finally, the documentary photographer must be emotional, feel what is around him, capture people's feelings in all their situations, and interact with them so that he can capture strong, touching, and emotional moments in order to deliver them to his target audience with great professionalism.
