Crafting Tradition
A zine journey through woodworking at Nareshwadi Learning Centre.

"Crafting Tradition" is a zine that chronicles my immersive journey into the world of woodworking at the Nareshwadi Learning Centre in Maharashtra. Through Adobe InDesign, I crafted a visual narrative that delves into the intricate process of creating a wood landscape puzzle from reclaimed wood scraps, while also shedding light on the invaluable work being done at this inspiring centre.

Exploring craftsmanship and the community
At Nareshwadi, I was captivated by the harmonious blend of craftsmanship and community spirit. This zine serves as a homage to the artisans whose skill and dedication breathe life into every piece of wood they touch. From selecting and shaping raw materials to the final assembly, each step in the puzzle-making process is a testament to their craftsmanship and the ethos of sustainability.

Beyond the woodworking workshop, the zine invites readers to discover the heart and soul of Nareshwadi Learning Centre. Through vivid imagery and personal reflections, I aim to educate and inspire others about the centre’s mission to empower local communities through education, vocational training, and environmental conservation initiatives. By sharing this journey, I hope to shine a light on the transformative impact of initiatives like Nareshwadi.

Creating the zine
In crafting this zine, I embraced the tactile and intimate nature of the medium, allowing readers to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, and textures of the woodworking process. From rough sketches to behind-the-scenes snapshots, each page invites you to join me on this enriching journey of creativity and discovery.
