Expresso Yourself Coffee Shop Menu Design
For the menu exercise assignment, we were tasked to come up with a restaurant and design a menu for it. I chose to make a menu for a coffee shop. The inspiration for me to be creative and make a sarcastic style menu was the stereotypical Monday where someone is having a bad Monday and needs a coffee. My biggest challenge was coming up with creative product names to add to the emotion of one who is having a bad day and are in desperate need of coffee. The title “Expresso Yourself” ties to the message of the coffee shop by being playful with the word “expresso” which ties to expression and coffee all at once. I used a dark brown color for the background to match a coffee color. For each sarcastic product title, I hand drew a silly image to match the title. I believe that all these details tie into the vibe of a rough Monday morning coffee break. This menu is specifically intended to bring a chuckle out of the target audience of middle-aged coffee lovers or people who have their dreadful 9-5 on Mondays.
