PSA Poster Series

The concept of this project was to create a PSA poster series for a topic that is important to the designer. The posters needed to have different imagery while remaining cohesive. The topic of choice is the effect that technology has on socialization, and how it has led to a loneliness epidemic, especially within the younger generations.

The posters utilize the colors blue, yellow, white, black, and grey. Blue of various shades represents loneliness and technology, yellow and white were used for high contrast, and black and gray emulate the dark tone that underlies the topic. Gray was also used for the visibility of various design elements such as the "shatter" effect of some of the type and the phone screen.

The important headers and call to action are emphasized by the font Bahnschrift, bolded for the most impactful type, and the facts are in Corbel. Both fonts are sans serif and similar in appearance, providing cohesiveness and resemblance to the fonts typically associated with technological products and services.

The images were self created, a combination of photos and illustrations, to be relatable to the viewer. Most people have experienced no signal on their phone and/or a cracked screen at some point in their lives. The design also allows them to see themselves within the image, whether they are the person holding the phone or the one reaching out for it. The silhouettes of the people can be perceived as either someone reaching for someone else, or as their reflection looking back at them, leaving it to be interpreted by the audience.
