Paleozoico
Extinct fauna has always appealed to me, since many years ago I wanted to do a Cambrian fauna illustration but didn't feel ready to accomplish it as it looked inside. Last year I learned some tricks to make underwater lighting and finally decided to do the Cambrian illustration. I started with that illustration and then as someone told me "I hope you make a Devonian period illustration, it's my fav" I decided to research about periods that followed the Cambrian.
In the span of two months I made illustrations representing the six periods of the Paleozoic era. The image above is the culmination of that project, I put together all the models I made and set them up to scale.
Even though there are only 6 periods, I made 8 illustrations because for the Devonian and Permian fauna diversified even more and inhabited the oceans as well as fresh water environments. This was a super fun project to make, I enjoyed learning about evolution. I just started making illustrations of the Mesozoic Era, It will take more time since biomes are getting more complex.
