Default Stoneware bisqued once and fired in a woodkiln (not shown; there are a few surfces on the faces of specific cuts that were painted using acryllic paint prior to putting it in the bisque, and it left a stain).

Made using basic stoneware.  Its very brittle after it dries out.  I made use of that by starting with a basic form and closely resembling what I wanted, and then i then began easing various tools to dig into the clay and take it away bit by bit.  When he was finally too dry for me to dig, I began to chisel away, smooth rough patches, and crave into in.

All that's left is to give this piece another glaze job and make him look more earth-like, like you could walk on it.

I'm thinking about putting a second coat of glaze on this one.  Some really bright colors that'll make the carvings and etchings really pop out.  There was an artist at NCECA this past spring that had the most rich looking colors on her geo crystals I had ever seen.  I think I will look for something in that range.
Note; Every conceptual work

This was made using a clay repice with 15% of saw dust in the claybody.
This work way only fired to cone 6.  This small replica landcaping has three distinctive peaks that are not accessible pathways, but rather there a linear path that connects all three mountains.  Every peark has a secret inside it's cave, and at the tips of every peak a a thread of twine that wraps around and ties all the peaks together in a triangular fashion.  Brass plates are strung up on the twine, and give the illusion of an intelligent civilization having once made this landscape their home.

I would later like to see this inside of Maya, and build a 3D environment with it.
