In 2012, I was nominated for an AMPIA award for producing and co-directing (and co-shooting and co-writing and editing) a 6 part series for ShawTV called The Edmontonian Presents. It was a light info-tainment program, comprised entirely of local stories - and it was based on theedmontonian.com, a blog my husband and I started to cover Edmonton news and events in 2009.

 

We wrote, shot, edited and packaged the entire 6 part series ourselves (as well as commercials), on a rickety old Mac G4 that died not long after. It was three solid months of work for 2 people (plus everyone we recruited to appear in the show) but it taught me more about producing and editing that I learned in ten years of working in TV professionally. It's probably the most valuable experience I've had to date, and the single thing I'm post proud of making.
