Two Halves Magazine

Concept magazine project for my second year final major project. Inspired by the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the mass of football content I was consuming, I noticed that among the tournament hype, team predictions, analysis, and throwbacks there was almost zero coverage of the darker side of the game. I used various news articles from the internet coupled with individual photographs which I would often crop into for extra impact.

The title was meant to be a simple play on words to hilight that the magazine would feature both sides of the game - sport and social impact, and the physical design was effectively two magazines reading inwards to the feature pull-out piece - Questioning the capabilities of the Brazilian authotories in light of civil disorder in the country prior to the tournament. The magazine also featured spreads on the controversies over the 2022 World Cup bidding process, deaths in stadia builds, as well as the obious traditional football magazine content.

Visually I wanted clean, minimal layouts, with a lot of emphasis on white space - This was in direct response to almost all football magazines having extremely busy, bordering on cluttered designs.
