Original Furniture, in fair condition, but scratched and dented in several places...no pieces in the set match.

In order to remove some of the original poly and stain for sanding prep a spray stripper was applied, then taken off along with material with thinner.
All shelves were then sanded down to the bare wood layer.

Original handle holes were at 2 1/4"...which is nearly impossible to find hardware for. Therefor, one original hole was filled with wood filler and sanded down, and an additional hole was put 3/4" further to make room for 3" hardware.
Layers of ebony stain. It was very important to me that I stain it and not paint it. Although the wood was relatively beat up, it still had a beautiful grain that I wanted to shine through the stain.

Layers of matte poly. Two layers were put on, light sanding between each.
First item finished, the nightstand. This piece came out the worst due to the wood not wanting to absorb as much of the stain.
Finished bureaus and final pictures.
Sanding, staining, and poly of old beat up solid wood furniture from the 60's. All finished with Ebony stain, matte poly, and matte silver hardware to match. Sorry for poor quality pictures, my camera would not hold a charge so all pics are via iPhone 5.
