Concept Ideation and Inspiration

Our main idea for our concept was loosely derived from Post Partum Depression and Psychosis experiences, and Psychosis in general. We were inspired by darker themes like cannibalism and how it is symbolizes the relationship between the child who eats the mother's nutrients and the mother who carries it for nine months. However, our work is not representative of any of these conditions and instead focuses on a mother's dark fantasy. This idea went through many changes during production due to conflicting visions of the team. In the end, we have left it up to the audience for interpretation.

Initial Version of the film

The above version was rejected for its lack of cohesive narrative and consistency. The message of the film comes across as all over the place and its darker elements are lost.  

To tie it all together, we decided to make it a parody of cooking shows. We also decided to lean fully into the darker elements and make the cannibalism more obvious. Unfortunately, it was too late into production to re-draw scenes for the move so we re edited the film with drastic changes.

I did the composting, editing, color correction and sound design for the final version of the film.
