Phil of goweryachts.co.uk approached me in early August 2014 looking for an update to his existing website. Phil works as a designer/engineer for a large yacht manufacturer in The Solent.  Using his expertise he was able to design and build his own 35 ft yacht. The design concept was to have maximum performance without sacrificing the luxurious accommodation. This was achieved by using lightweight materials.

In recent years Phil developed the 45ft version of his design and moved his vessels down to Dartmouth.

Having heard of my own sea going experience we arranged a rather unusual first business meeting. I was invited by Phil on 1 of those typically British (wet & windy) summer days to help him sail the yacht to its new Home in Salcombe.

Phil wanted a new website to help him with his new Charter venture. Although the yachts are still available to buy, Phil wanted more emphasis on the charter aspect of his business.

We found the perfect new domain name available www.salcombeyachts.co.uk. There was no need for a complete design overhaul, but i wanted to modernise the overall feel of the website, bringing it in-line with new higher resolution monitors, and making better use of the 'screen real estate'. As standard with all of the websites I make for my design company (Salcombe Web Design) I implemented a responsive framework. A collapsible side-menu replaces the Main Menu once we come down to iPad screen size and below, along with other elements on the page responding appropriately.

We're hoping this will be the start of a good working relationship between Salcombe Web Design and Salcombe Yachts, more than anything I'm looking forward to getting out for a Sail with Phil.
Website at full, desktop screen width.
