This body of work uses plastic bags as the basic medium. The concept began as a form of recycled art but has evolved to incorporate social-political themes and the the theme of labor as art. By deconstructing the plastic bag and giving it new form I am commenting on the consumerist, throw-away culture that we live in. The process here is almost as important as the final outcome. Bags are meticulously cut, woven, knit or otherwise re-constructed. In addition bags are the inspiration for a number of drawings and photograms.
