THE INKTOBER DESIGNS BY CODY RASDALL
                                                   Prompt: Huge
Here is the result of my speed run through inktober. I did a shortened version, only choosing eight different words from the prompt list. I had a few goals in mind. One was to create a visual identity... All of my designs should look like they go together in some way. Another was to use texture, everything will have a gradient. I also challenged myself to use a restricted color palette. No more than four colors were to be used. With that being said, I will showcase my designs and talk a bit about the process along the way.
Prompt: Beast                                                                                                                                                             Prompt: Demon
Prompt: Toad                                                                                                                                                                Prompt: Plump
Having the prompts really helped my brain creatively. I was easily figuring out exactly what I wanted to do soon after hearing the words. For example, when I read the word plump, I instantly thought of big puckered lips. I knew these lips had to belong to some kind of 'plump' character. Soon the big round stubby limbed guy was born. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, words help stir ideas. It's the same thing as reading a book. You can easily picture what a character may look like, or imagine the high ceilings of enchanted castles, blah, blah, blah.
Prompt: Remove                                                                                                                                                         Prompt: Dagger
The method in which I was able to achieve my textures was pretty simple. I just created a gradient mesh within Illustrator, added a grain effect, and pasted the multiplied texture over the orignal art. I think it came out cool! Will definitely be experimenting with different kinds of textures moving forward. All in all, this was super fun and I learned a lot. I am very excited to expand upon the huge prompt idea, that design alone made this whole thing worth it. I want to create more characters in this style, it was truly a happy accident.
Prompt: Spicey
Thank you for checking out my stuff! I will leave you with this ANGRY pepper (my second favorite design.) Keep track of my profile to see more spicey shit!
