Tarot cards

Illustrator Hanny Traugott (HDT)

This is an ongoing* personal project where I'll be illustrating my favorite characters and transforming them into tarot cards, each with a unique design based on the characteristics of each character.

*This project will be continuously updated until I complete all the characters.

The first character is Jinx, originally a character from the Riot Games' League of Legends. Jinx had her story enriched through the Arcane series, where she particularly captured my attention.

The goal was to create two cards that clearly depict the duality experienced by the character, 'The Angel' and 'The Devil.' The colors pink and blue, along with graffiti elements, have consistently accompanied the character throughout the narrative of the series, playing a crucial role in her representation.

"Jinx, born as Powder, is a notorious Zaun Crest icon Zaunite criminal and Vi's younger sister. When she was a little girl, her parents were killed in a failed uprising against Piltover Crest icon Piltover, leading Vander, the unspoken leader of the undercity, to adopt both her and Vi as his own daughters. After a series of events forced Jinx and her sister apart in more ways than one, she was fundamentally and irrevocably changed, transforming her into the demented killer she is today."

The second character is Thanatos, from the game Hades. As the personification of death in Greek mythology, it's only fitting to represent him as "The Death."

In the game, he is strongly associated with the color purple, adorned with purple butterflies swirling around him. This distinctive visual element has been incorporated into his design to stay true to the thematic representation in the game.

"As the embodiment of death, Thanatos has many duties requiring him to venture up into the mortal realm. His most recent such venture took longer than usual - speculated by Hypnos and Zagreus to be related to the ongoing war - but returns some time after the game's opening. He apparently dislikes the mortal realm, in particular how bright it can get."

Thanks!
