Foxwoods Resort Casino and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation continue their longstanding tradition of holiday giving this year, donating 200 turkeys to local charities and food banks, including: St Vincent de Paul in Norwich, CT; The WARM Shelter in Westerly, RI; Jonnycake Center in Westerly, RI; The Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center in Pawcatuck, CT; and the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center.

The donation is part of an annual program, established by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods Resort Casino, to reward employees at Thanksgiving with a fresh, healthy dinner turkey. The casino also allows employees to donate their turkeys to a charity or food bank of their choice.

“We are delighted to give back to our employees, who are crucial in providing each and every Foxwoods guest with the five-star experience for which our establishment is famous,” said Stephen Heise, Vice President of HR for Foxwoods Resort Casino. “And we are proud that so many of our valued employees, in turn, opt to give back to their communities.”

Employees involved in Foxwoods’ annual program hand-delivered nearly 200 turkeys to their Thanksgiving destinations earlier this week. The donated birds are sure to bring joy and comfort to hundreds of needy families across the region, through employees’ chosen charitable organizations.

“The Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center has distributed 1,800 turkeys already this year in preparation for Thanksgiving,” said Virginia L. Mason, President and CEO of United Way of Southeastern Connecticut. “The additional donation by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods Resort Casino Employees will help meet the growing need in our community and we could not do it without their help.”

Since 1993, Foxwoods Resort Casino and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation have donated millions in cash and in-kind services to a vast and deserving array of charitable organizations, including projects that promote economic development and support local commerce, culture, arts and entertainment initiatives. The organizations have provided help at the local level for Toys for Tots, Red Cross, Mystic Aquarium, Special Olympics and the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut to name a few.
