The Forgotten Place - Dust Jacket

I have been tasked with designing a dust jacket for an imaginary novel, with the freedom to explore the psychological thriller and suspense genre. My objective is to visually capture the complexities of the human psyche within the artwork.

In the design composition, the first image the central focus rests on a captivating portrayal of a young girl, embodying the primary protagonist of the story. Following this, a dense and foreboding forest setting, serving as the backdrop where the narrative unfolds.
Finally, the inclusion of the red-shirted figure, a requisite element for this evaluation,
adds a crucial layer of intrigue and thematic resonance to the overall visual narrative.
The inspiration is from the realism and impressionism artistic movements, I intend to incorporate these elements into my work.

Realism will help me capture the raw and authentic emotion to the design, while impressionism will enable me to infuse a dreamlike quality into the visuals, representing the blurred lines between reality and illusion in psychological thrillers.

I believe the design effectively captures the eerie and haunting atmosphere of the story. The use of muted, earthy tones in the background reflects the wooded setting, and the red shirt provides a striking focal point,  symbolizing the traumatic event.
