A search-and-find artwork by Gus Morais depicting 10 years of VMP’s

history, showcasing all the company’s featured musical artists.

Vinyl Me, Please is a “record of the month” club. The company helps their subscribers to discover new music and build record collection by sending them great music every month. The vinyl album catalogue from VMP is huge: during their 10 years of existence, albums from more than 400 artists were released with top product quality. To celebrate this mark, Gus Morais was invited to develop a seek-and-find artwork showing all the artists that had their vinyl records released by the company.

The idea for the background came after some conversation with CEO Cameron Schaefer who asked for an environment that could mix “NASA, Willie Wonka and Vinyl Chemistry”.

After being provided by VMP with a list showing the name of all their 400 published artists and bands, I’ve made some research so I could draw easter eggs and references to classic album covers and historic events associated to the history of the artists.

Above, we can spot a big vinyl cake surrounded by conveyor belts, colored plastic balls waiting to be melted into vinyl discs and artists like A Tribe Called Quest and Snoop Dog having fun.

Giant gramophones and soundboxes bring loud music to the party, while an airplane distributes vinyl records to everyone. Great classic and contemporary bands like Queen and Interpol appear enjoying the party.

Big platforms with vinyl record shape are used by artists to make their own concerts in the party, among many other fantastic vynil chemistry machines.

Below, you can see some of the initial linework made for each artist. This was shared with VMP staff before finalization process so we could be sure that we would be adding in the

poster the most iconic look for each artist.
