STYLING WORK for National Heritage Board (2022)

Styling work for National Heritage Board Singapore (2022)

For this project, I was given the task to style 3 different personas; a British soldier during the Japanese Occupation in Singapore, a cheongsam tailor and Radin Mas Ayu, a legendary Javanese princess.

Specifically, I outsourced the looks for both Radin Mas and the cheongsam tailor as the uniform for the British soldier was an archival set belonged to the government/museum.

The look for Radin Mas consisted of a kebarung, a fusion of the traditional Malay kebaya and baju kurung. She also donned a plaid sarong on her head as seen in the video. As for the cheongsam tailor, the key components that made up his look comprises of measuring tape, waistcoat and tie.

We try to be as historically accurate as possible for each look. Though, there wasn’t any known records or accounts on Radin Mas’ fashion back in the day.
