I recently drew a collection of illustrations which were inspired by a Simurgh painting in the Chester Beatty Museum. This painting was based on the book, the conference of birds which has a fantastic description of an owl who digs for gold and is too weighed down by his worldly possessions to discover enlightenment. I liked the idea of an owl digging for gold... It's not what you would expect. I started drawing and this owl took on a life of it's own! The picture quality is not great but perfectionism makes it too easy to sit on things and it's better to share I think..
