Illustrated Capital Letter

This Illustrated Capital Letter mixes two similar concepts, despite their theorical concepts say the opposite (typographic concept and illustrative-artistic concept). Gothic fonts and ribs give a excellent combination! Because appart from making the ribs the rounded part of the R (the ribs makes a form of several circles), the used aesthetics both in ribs and the shape of the Capital R gives a peculiar style with a gothic touch.

The artistic process of this letter is easy to plan and make the pencil sketch, but not easy talking about the artistic concept. 

First of all, I've done the sketch of the Capital R with measures with the purpose of do it harmonically. Next, I've outlined it with a callibrated marker, and I've started to shadow the ribs. Next, I've ended up giving them their respective volumes. And finally, I've coloured the typographic part in black. 

It's done with callibrated black markers.
