Christina Quisumbing Ramilo is known for her works on sandpaper. For her two exhibition posters, I wanted to create a font that emulates the gritty effect of a chalk writing on a sandpaper.

In GRIT [surface 2], I played on the symmetry of the elements of her work and utilized the negative spaces to put the title "GRIT". On the other hand, "[surface 2]" is put on top of the work to create that tension against GRIT.
