For my final extra credit assignment, we had to edit faces into a movie poster. For mine, I chose Twilight because I often get compared to Jacob by friends and random people I have never met in public. I began with this image:
I began by editing my friend's face onto Edward. I hesitate to post her silly, impromptu picture on this public page since she was embarrassed about it, but I will elaborate on my process. I began by overlaying her face onto Edward's, then I masked out the background as well as most portions of the face except for the eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth to preserve the skin texture as well as the rigid jawline and rugged features that define the men of the series. I would feather the edges to make the two images blend better, and in some areas, I used the blur tool. Then, I used a series of adjustment layers to alter the color of my friend's skin to match that of Edward, masking out certain regions that did not need the adjustment. Lastly, I used some simple color layers and blend modes to restore the red irises, eyeshadow, and dark lips of Edward.
I feel the original picture was poorly lit, and it was the first face I edited, so it was the most challenging for me. Next, I edited my face onto Jacob, using largely the same process. Jacob didn't have differently colored regions like the red eyes or purple lips of the other characters, and our skin tones were already pretty similar, so I only needed a few adjustments to match the colors.
Lastly, I edited my face (because I couldn't get a second friend to participate) onto Bella. Like Edward, there were more details to add to her face, but I feel that after some experience, I had made my process more efficient.
Lastly, I added subtle adjustments to the entire project to bake in my changes a little bit.
