EVERYTHING about Alex Garland’s stunning 2018 film Annihilation blew me away… the story, acting, visuals, score and the incredible world it grew.

 The ‘shimmer’ grew on the surface, but also under it, morphing hidden meanings just as much as the life around it, resculpting your subconscious too.

What if it could ‘evolve’ technology too (maybe AI is the shimmer?), or objects, and typography…

And so to Nocturne Refracted. My homage to Annihilation, where the font ‘grows’ and becomes one with nature, and the world around it.

A work in progress, multiple weights/flora have been cultivated/grown already, but they are just seeds for where I’d like to take it in the future, a font, and environment that grows itself.
