Dangers Afloat
A desktop game that uses cell phones as controllers

Vinicius Bustamanti (Gamedev Generalist)
Dangers Afloat is a pirate party game. Players use their phones as controllers, collaborating to navigate a sea full of bombs in pursuit of treasure. As part of a small indie team, I had to contribute across various areas.

My contributions were: coding, game design, animations, webdesign, VFXs and more.

Game Design
In the development of Dangers Afloat, we gave a fresh spin to the classic Minesweeper mechanics. Dangers Afloat transforms Minesweeper into a cooperative adventure, introducing an imposter whose mission is to sink the ship. Unlike the traditional Minesweeper, players collaboratively navigate maps with shared information about bombs and other elements, working together to reach the treasure.

Character Animations

We originally commissioned someone to animate all the characters, but we used a technology that was bad in terms of performance. As a result, I took the initiative to reanimate all the characters using Spine.

VFX's, Shaders, Environment, Materials and etc

While developing Dangers Afloat, I improved my knowledge in particles, fabric simulation, shaders, and made some cool environments.
