Awa Odori – 阿波踊り (November 2023)
Japanese-style poster referring to Awa Odori, a spectacular traditional dance festival (Japanese-style carnival) held in Tokushima (徳島), located on the island of Shikoku. But this celebration is also called carnival, being the oldest in the world, even preceding that of Rio de Janeiro.

The goal of this illustration would be to convey a sense of tranquility and cultural sophistication, inviting viewers to appreciate the grace and beauty of the Awa Odori dancer in a more contemplative setting, before the festivity begins.

I love the traditional clothing of the dancers and the regal bearing given to them by the peculiar hat they wear.
The style of this illustration matches perfectly with Kodomo No Hi, with the intention that they form a perfect tandem for the viewer.
