The Stationary Shop by Marjan Kamali features a bittersweet romance of longing and unanswered questions, I used this as a basis for my design for it's cover. I chose to create it in the style of Art Nuevo as I felt it suited the dreamy idealistic nature of the character and sought to capture it in the cover illustration.

"The Corrections is a 2001 novel by American author Jonathan Franzen. It revolves around the troubles of an elderly Midwestern couple and their three adult children, tracing their lives from the mid-20th century to "one last Christmas" together near the turn of the millennium."
It was based off this description of the novel that I decided to create this book cover design in the style of German expressionism. I wanted bright, almost sickening colors that didn't clash per-say, but gave a sense of alienation and unease.
