PAULO COELHO BOOK POSTERS

VISUALIZING PAULO COELHO'S BOOKS
 MICA Senior Year, Final project
SPRING 2010
The project’s goal and challenge was to visually translate the spiritual messages from five of Paulo Coelho’s books. My aim was to create an atmosphere that portrays the essence of each book.

BRIDA
Soul Mates always recognize each other, that is the universal rule. At some point in its journey, the soul divides. This poster shows the multitude of that division. Each human being needs to experience at least one moment with a soul mate in each life time: “The Greater Love that separated them feels pleased with the Love that brings them together again.”

THE WITCH OF PORTOBELLO
This poster depicts the Search for the Vertex, which is a ritual dance. Dancing to the point of exhaustion and trance opens up the vertex, which is the top of a triangle found in each human body. This process releases light that guides us in the spiritual realm.
THE ALCHEMIST
Portrays Coelho’s reoccurring message that our destiny and true obligation in life is to follow our Personal Legend. Once we are set in making our dream come true, the whole universe will conspire to manifest it. All our souls are part of one entity, the soul of the world, the universe: “all things are the manifestation of one thing only.”
BY THE RIVER PIEDRA I SAT DOWN AND WEPT
Depicting the feminine aspect of God, this poster shows the Great Mother’s love and power. The statue of the Goddess is the moon and Her manifestation is water. This book focuses on humanity’s journey back to the Earth Mother.
VERONICA DECIDES TO DIE
What happens if we all live to be our true inner selves? This piece conveys the mental struggle we go through trying to “follow the manual of good behavior.” We were not created to be the same, but in today’s world it takes a lot of courage to be different and to truly live. We go against divine law and nature by fitting a mass of people into nonsensical rules.
I was corresponding with Paulo Coelho while working on this project. Here is his recommendation.
