App Redesign - UX/UI

IDOS APP REDESIGN
CASE-STUDY
With the goal of improving my UX/UI skills in app design, I went through my phone and searched for apps that I use daily and that could benefit from better UX and visuals. One app stood out from the others, the popular Czech app IDOS, which displays public transportation connections and allows you to purchase tickets through your phone.

I had three goals for my case study:

1. Enhance my general UX/UI skills.
2. Gain a better understanding of the differences between app and desktop UX/UI.
3. Explore new design tools to enhance the clarity of the design and make it more user-friendly.

After completing my project, I can confidently say that I have achieved all of my expected goals.

I contacted approximately 5 to 10 people, including myself, who use the app daily and asked them simple questions about its functionality and how it could be improved. Most users likely follow a straightforward user flow, and the app offers many useful features, but it doesn't effectively promote them, leading to users being unaware of and not utilizing them.

One such feature that stands out is the ability to save your favorite routes and journeys. None of the individuals I spoke to had utilized this feature.

Now, let's discuss the changes I've implemented and the reasons behind them.

Important UX/UI changes:

1. Reorienting all content to the bottom of the phone, making it more accessible and comfortable to reach with your thumbs.

2. Updating the color scheme to a more vibrant blue, enhancing memorability while introducing a more assertive aesthetic.

3. Adding a new tab at the top of the home screen, enabling users to save their favorite destinations and access information about the closest connections.

4. Implementing a UX design that provides breathing room for elements while maintaining their informativeness.

5. Enhancing the overall user experience by offering a more personalized approach.
