This was an entry that I submitted for Spotify's #nowplaying Design competition.
The brief was to create an artwork that represents what music means to you.
For me personally, music mostly serves 2 purpose: as an encouragement, and as some sort of a time capsule, where a certain tune would keep a certain memory intact. If you get what I mean :)
Interestingly, I started drawing the background way before I came to know about the competition. The concept and character comes afterwards, after I read the competition brief.
