The Badlands Series - Part II

-The Badlands Series-
Part II
_____________________________________________
Part II consists of 2 different images, both in color and b&w.
The Badlands Series is a project using images I took in the Badlands National Park in July of 2020. These images were then blended with a self-created texture made in an effort to express the aesthetic and feel of a topographical map (top layer and bottom ocean terrain). I also seek to convey the interconnections of environmental processes that are inextricably linked; how erosion and weathering have influenced and shaped our current environment, while blurring the lines between reality and imagination.
The forefront of inspiration for this project comes from an affinity for topographical maps, landscapes, and color with some geology and geographical interest thrown in.

The Badlands National Park occupies roughly 244,000 acres in southwestern South Dakota. The unique landscape, characterized by buttes, canyons, spires, and cliffs, is the result of deposition and erosion processes which began millions of years ago. Originally designated as a national monument in 1939, it became a national park in 1979.
Prints will be available soon! :)
